Activities September 2018 

 Senior Centers are celebrating their 75th anniversary this year and the theme for September is:  “Building Momentum” by Growing, to be the most we can be, Connecting older adults with others and making friends matter, Learning new languages and skills and exercising helps care for your body, and Giving back at the senior center and within the community for a more meaningful life.

            MONDAY, SEPT. 3 – The senior center will be closed today in observance of Labor Day.  Enjoy the last holiday of the summer.                                 

 TUESDAY, SEPT. 4 – Stop by and pick up a schedule of activities for September.  Barb’s aerobics will be held in Fellowship Hall.  The beginner watercolor art class begins at 9:15 AM. and the intermediate art class will begin at 12:30.  If you have an interest in painting or want to learn how, then give us a call and we will be glad to get you into one of the classes.  Table games will be available throughout the day.  The pinochle players will meet after lunch. 

        WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 5 – Barb’s aerobics will be held in Fellowship Hall.   Mary Ellen will be leading her ceramic class.  Stop by and see what all she has to paint.   The card party meets at 1:00 PM.  If you like to play cards and want to make some new friends, then come join us.  We always have room for more players.  Bridge Club meets at 12:00.  Table games and Wii bowling will be available throughout the day.  

THURSDAY, SEPT. 6 - Barb’s aerobics will be held in Fellowship Hall followed by the Balance Class at 9:45 AM.   Our nurse will be with us to check blood pressure and weights til 11:00 AM.  Kings in the Corner will begin at 9:30 for those interested. Chair Yoga begins at 10:30 AM.  Hand and Foot will start at 12:00 PM.   The acrylic art class meets at 12:00 PM.  

 FRIDAY, SEPT. 7 – Aerobics will be held in Fellowship Hall.  Table games will be played during the day along with Wii bowling.   Bocce Ball will be available at 10:30 AM.  Bingo will be played after lunch. 

 MONDAY SEPT. 10 – Our breakfast gang will meet at Cracker Barrel Restaurant.  Come join us for some fellowship and good food.  Barb’s aerobics will be held in Fellowship Hall.  Table games will be available throughout the day as well as Wii games.  We will have a discussion on Grandparents, so bring in memories you have of your grandparents.  Willy’s craft class meets at 9:30 AM.  Jane Thomas will be teaching a drawing class at noon for all those who would like to learn the basics of drawing.   All are welcome to attend. 

TUESDAY, SEPT. 11 - Barb’s aerobics will be held in Fellowship Hall.  We will be celebrating the September birthdays. Table games will be available throughout the day as well as Wii games. Pinochle will be played at 12:00 PM.  Doug will be available after lunch to assist with computer issues.  Do you remember going to the York Fair?  Think about this and come prepared to share some stories about you experiences at the fair. 

        WEDNESDAY SEPT. 12 - Barb’s aerobics will be held in Fellowship Hall.  Mary Ellen will be available to assist with ceramics in the morning.  Stop in and check out what all she has for you to paint.    Yesterday we shared fair stories, now today we will play some fair games and if you have anything that you would like to take to a fair, then by all means bring it in today to display.  Table games will be available throughout the day.  The Bridge Club will meet at 12:00.  We could use a few more bridge players. 

        THURSDAY, SEPT. 13 – Barb’s aerobics will be held in Fellowship Hall, followed by the Balance Class.  A nurse will be available to check your weight and blood pressure.  Becky will be available to give chair massages for a small fee.  Please sign up for this program. Table games will be available throughout the day.  Kings in the Corner will begin at 9:30.  Chair Yoga class begins at 10:30 AM.  Art class begins at 12:00 P.M.  Hand and Foot will be played at 12:00 PM.  If you are doing your fall house cleaning and come across items you no longer need and they are in good condition, you may bring them in for our yard sale.  We will be busy pricing items for the yard sale on Saturday.  

FRIDAY, SEPT. 14 – Aerobics will be held in Fellowship Hall.  Table games will be available throughout the day.   Indoor Bocce Ball will be available in the morning.   Bingo will be played after lunch.  We will be continuing to price any yard sale items that come in. 

        SATURDAY, SEPT. 15– Come out and shop at the Community Yard Sale today.  There will be something for everyone.  You can stop by our area for a hot dog, drink and some baked goods also.  All proceeds benefit the senior center.  

MONDAY, SEPT.  17 - Barb’s aerobics will be held in Fellowship Hall.  Wii and table games will be available throughout the day.  Keith Felix’s brother, Kirk Felix will be here to entertain us.  Jane Thomas will be teaching a drawing class at noon for all those who would like to learn the basics of drawing.   All are welcome to attend.  The Board of Directors will meet at three o’clock.

TUESDAY, SEPT. 18 - Barb’s aerobics will be held in Fellowship Hall.      Table games will be available throughout the day.  The pinochle players will meet at 12:00; we could use a few more players.  Doug will be available to assist with computer issues after lunch. 

WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 19 –Mary Ellen will be available to assist with ceramics in the morning.  Stop in and check out what all she has for you to paint.  Barb’s aerobics will be held in Fellowship Hall.  The bridge group meets at 12:00.   And the regular card party meets at 1:00.

THURSDAY, SEPT. 20 – Our monthly public breakfast will be from 7:00 to 9:30 AM.  We will be serving Chipped Beef, Homefries, Breakfast Casserole, Biscuits, Toast, scrambled eggs, juice, coffee or tea.  Barb’s aerobics will be held in Fellowship Hall.  No balance class today.  A nurse will be with us to check blood pressure and weights until 11:00 AM. Kings in the Corner will begin at 9:30.  Table games and Wii games will be available throughout the day.  The Chair Yoga class begins at 10:30 AM.  Art class begins at 12:00 PM.  Hand and Foot and will be played after lunch for those interested.

FRIDAY, SEPT. 21 –Aerobics will be held in Fellowship Hall.  Bocce Ball will be played at 10:30.  Table games will be available throughout the morning along with Wii Bowling.   Bingo will be played after lunch.

MONDAY, SEPT.  24 – Barb’s aerobics will be held in Fellowship Hall. Table games and Wii games will be available throughout the day.  Bring a wrapped gift along with you today to play our favorite game of “Now You Have Now You Don’t”. 

            TUESDAY, SEPT. 25 - Barb’s aerobics will be held in Fellowship Hall.    Table games will be available throughout the day.  The pinochle players will meet at 12:00; we could use a few more players.  Doug will be available to assist with computer issues after lunch.  Volunteers will be traveling to Manor Care to assist with bingo in the afternoon. 

WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 26 - Barb’s aerobics will be held in Fellowship Hall.  Mary Ellen will be available to assist with ceramics in the morning.  Stop in and check out what all she has for you to paint.   The Red Hat Rubies will be meeting at 10:30 AM.  Wii games and table games will be available throughout the day.  The Bridge Club meets at 12:00.

            THURSDAY, SEPT. 27 - Barb’s aerobics will be held in Fellowship Hall followed by the Balance Class.   A nurse will be with us to check blood pressure and weights until 11:00 AM.  Kings in the Corner will begin at 9:30.  The Chair Yoga Class meets at 10:30 AM.  Art class begins at 12:00 PM.  Hand and Foot and will be played after lunch for those interested.
